Hotel Harheimer Hof

The staff were really friendly and accommodating. We asked for two firmer pillows because the ones on the bed were too soft, and for a fan to move the air around. Both were brought promptly. The hotel was clean, the beds comfortable, and the area mostly quiet, though the building feels like it dates from the late 80s and could use an update. There’s a control that looks like it’s for air conditioning, but there’s no air conditioning or vents. Our room was stuffy, and I’m not sure what it’s like in summer. It’s a residential area, but room 211 is right above the entrance where people gather to chat or smoke. You’ll hear them and smell cigarette smoke, so you may need to keep the window closed. Unless you want to eavesdrop, in which case leave it open. You’ll be bored to sleep. Getting into the city takes some planning if you don’t have a car. The hotel isn’t close to the center, so you’ll need public transport or a taxi. Bus 28 stops within 50 steps of the hotel and goes to Kalbach station, where you can take the U8 into town. From the hotel, turn left and follow Alt Harheim around. Pass the chemist on your left, then cross to the city-bound side. Look for the pole marked 28 and a few chairs. There’s no shelter, so bring an umbrella if it’s raining. There’s a restaurant open to guests and the public, but the menu is limited. When we ate there, lasagne and Americana weren’t available, and our two burgers took almost 30 minutes despite the restaurant being quiet. We didn’t mind the wait, but keep it in mind if you’re in a hurry. Breakfast is next to the restaurant with plenty to choose from, though you’ll want to get there early before things run out. The hot food wasn’t appetising when we arrived, perhaps because it had been sitting in the hot box; made to order might work better. There’s also a bakery further along Alt Harheim if you’d rather skip breakfast. This wasn’t a bad place, just not what we expected for our plans in Frankfurt.

The rooms were nice, with a bath, balcony and a view. Breakfast was included, there’s private parking, and the staff were friendly. I’d give it five stars if I hadn’t missed having air conditioning :(

The place is old and not very clean. There was no phone signal and the Wi-Fi was very poor. It was so hot in the room that I couldn’t sleep properly, even with the window open. Since the hotel is on a square, I could hear people outside until 1 or 2 am.

A great spot if you want somewhere peaceful. There’s a bus stop about 100 meters away that takes you to the train, another 170 meters on foot. The hotel was perfectly clean, the staff were fantastic, and breakfast was modest but tasty. I can’t say enough about the staff.
