Kennedy 89 In The Unbound Collection By Hyatt

I slept really well at Kennedy 89, and the food was sublime, which is good since the area isn’t especially densely populated. The concept feels new for Hyatt: elegant, but with what travellers need, including a w/d in the room. As a Globalist, I stay in more Hyatt hotels than I care to admit, and this ranks among the very best. The people deserve the credit, since decor only goes so far in hospitality. Ricardo, the bartender, is a gem. He goes out of his way to be nice and suggests fun, inventive cocktails inspired in part by his roots in Brazil. Minh, the Hostess, was welcoming and thoughtful, making enough conversation to settle you in without intruding on your time or privacy. Shanel, the team leader, understands concerns, finds a way to address them, and brings the answer back to the team. Bravo. Azos, the waitress, gave service with a smile, as we say in NY. Five stars, right? I wish Kennedy 89 well!

The room felt brand new, with beautiful finishes, high-quality materials, and lots of Kennedy-themed details that fit the hotel’s name. The temperature was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well without making it too cold. The amenities were impressively complete, right down to a lint roller. The front office team was warm and professional. Adrian Jean-Michel Schultz and Gabrijela Dimic reached out before I arrived to ask about my preferences and arrival time, then gave me a thoughtful introduction to the room and facilities. It felt like the hotel had made a sincere effort to welcome me, and I look forward to returning.

The central location was perfect, about 10 min to the airport or the city center. What really stood out was the mix of beautifully designed, comfortable rooms and staff who were incredibly attentive and kind. It’s rare to find both, even at more expensive hotels. I’d definitely return instead of trying another brand. It was a truly elevated, luxurious experience.

The hotel opened in 2025, and its hardware and facilities are exceptionally new, which made a great first impression. The front desk staff were warm, professional, and attentive at check-in. When I needed to extend my stay and reactivate my key card, they arranged to have a staff member bring the new card right to my room. That saved me a trip back to the desk, and I genuinely appreciated the gesture. My experience at Eighty Nine Restaurant & Bar, though, left an extremely unpleasant mark on the stay. One young male server seemed deeply unprofessional and appeared to treat me differently from other guests. I waited an hour and a half without receiving any of the food I’d ordered. Several tables that arrived later were fully served, finished eating, paid, and left. When I finally asked him why my meal hadn’t come, he told me he could now place my order. What had he been doing for the previous 90 minutes? His explanation was that he hadn’t placed it because I was eating bread. That was completely unacceptable. Every table was served bread, but the other guests still had their orders placed promptly and meals served on time. Why was I singled out and left waiting 90 minutes, only to learn the order hadn’t even been submitted? Even more concerning, charges were added under my account despite my receiving no food and signing no bill. The next day, the same server followed me into the lounge area and kept confronting me. It went far beyond a normal service dispute and felt invasive, inappropriate, and deeply uncomfortable. The property itself and the front desk service deserve genuine praise, but this employee’s conduct at Eighty Nine Restaurant severely diminished what could have been an excellent stay. As a Hyatt Globalist member, I sincerely hope management takes the matter seriously, improves staff training, and ensures no future guest has to go through something similar.
