Hotel Classic

We were in a very quiet area, and the parking spaces were right in front of the hotel. The tram stop is just a few hundred meters away. Tram 4 gets you to the center in 6-7 stops. A nearby petrol station has a convenience store, and the room’s air conditioning was great in summer. The walls are a little thin, but luckily the guests next door stopped talking after midnight. The woman at the front desk was really friendly and helpful. Thanks a lot!

Our car broke down on Friday at 5 pm, about 170 km from our destination, while we were heading out for a long weekend around the Black Forest, including places beyond Friburg. With our two-month-old baby, we called off the trip and took a taxi 130 km home. We had booked three hotels. Two understood and let us cancel without a fee, including the one for that same Friday night. This hotel was the only one that made no exception. Free cancellation ended at midnight the day before, so we weren’t that late. They wouldn’t even let us postpone the booking. That didn’t feel very customer-focused. We’ll eventually visit the Black Forest once our car is repaired, but we definitely won’t choose this hotel for our stay in Friburg.

The room didn’t look like the photos. They advertised it for five people, but it could fit only two or three at most. It smelled, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. We couldn’t stay even one night. There was no staff at night, and when we called to explain, they brushed us off and told us to leave the key and go.

It takes about 20 minutes to get into the city, and the tram stop is right next door. The room was spacious, with a balcony, and had a nice bathroom. It was clean, too. The WiFi got very patchy at night and couldn’t handle many people using it. There was some construction right out front, next to a convenience store and gas station, which was handy.
