Hotel Schwärs Löwen Freiburg

It’s easy to explore Freiburg without a car, since the bus stop is right nearby. The hotel has a lovely traditional feel, and the rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. There’s plenty of parking, including a garage, and breakfast is offered, though I didn’t try it because the vegetarian choices were limited. The TV, fridge, and furniture are quite old and could use renovation. Still, the stay was comfortable and welcoming.

The reception guy was really friendly and nice, and our room was clean and quiet. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but public transport is super convenient with a bus stop right outside. We had a wonderful stay.

The room was old and dated, the fridge had mould in it, and there were heaps of ants in the indoor breakfast area. The free parking was extremely cramped. Breakfast itself was decent, as long as you weren’t being crawled on by ants, but we really didn’t enjoy the stay and were very disappointed. We won’t return. We’d booked what was meant to be a cosy anniversary weekend, but our room didn’t have the balcony or bathtub clearly listed in the booking. When we raised it, staff blamed us instead of apologising or offering help. The best part of the hotel was leaving.
