Hotel Victoria, BW Signature Collection

The room was a decent size, with plenty of storage, a comfortable bed, and complimentary water. The location between the train station and old town is good, too. But during our four nights, reception seemed disinterested and barely interacted with us, not even with a hello or goodbye. Check-in was slow because, despite booking online, I still had to enter my name and address on a tablet form. We heard about the roof sun terrace and downstairs bar, but only saw the bar open once, for a private function. If friendly service isn’t a priority, it’s decent enough for a place to sleep.

I stayed at Hotel Victoria for a work conference and was in room 159. The location was fantastic, and the staff were friendly and helpful, with English spoken. Breakfast had lots of options and was good. I liked the spacious, modern bathroom, the strong water pressure in both the shower and sink, and having glasses in the room for taking medicine. Two things let it down for me: the soundproofing was poor enough that I could hear my neighbor coughing, so light sleepers may want earplugs, and the bathroom towel warmer didn’t work. There’s a city tax to pay at checkout.

The suite was quite large and would work well for a family travelling with children. The hotel is in the city center and easy to reach from the train station. There’s a very good self-service lounge that stays open late. Breakfast is the usual European selection of breads, cheese, and meats, but everything was fresh and high quality. I’d recommend staying here.

I enjoyed my stay in a lovely first-floor room with a balcony looking over the park. The checkout was spoiled by a rather rude receptionist who didn’t seem to know that contactless payment wouldn’t work for several hundred euros. Management sent a very kind response to my complaint.
