Really good food at what I think is the best traditional, rustic Black Forest restaurant in and around Freiburg. This is a place you’ll remember.

The roasted liver with basmati rice was A+, and the wild duo was par excellence. A great meal as we were nearing the end of our 71-day trek through Europe. I’d recommend it to anyone who appreciates German cuisine.

The family who runs this hotel are extremely kind and friendly. It’s in a quiet area, with a good breakfast and free snacks for guests, usually different baked goods or fruit. If you want to eat at the hotel restaurant, check its days and hours carefully since it isn’t always open. The "Flußkrebs/Salat „Asiatisch“ " is legendary, so give it a try. It’s a good spot for hiking, and there’s a nearby bus stop with service to Freiburg at least every half hour. A bank, cash machine, and small shop for essentials are also within walking distance.

A varied breakfast alone is worth a visit. The hotel is comfortable, with spacious rooms, and has a wonderful traditional restaurant serving Schwarzwald specialities. It’s in a charming hamlet with great walking nearby.
