We appreciated how helpful the reception team was. There wasn't a refrigerator in our room, but they gladly kept our things for us so they wouldn't spoil. The Mercure Hotel team made us feel welcome, and we'd be happy to stay again. The hotel is in a great spot, and the staff are very kind. Parking is available in lots and on the street nearby, but it's expensive and free spaces can be hard to find.

Breakfast was good, and the gluten-free choices were clearly displayed, so there was no need to ask. A sweet GF roll or waffle from Schär would have been a nice extra. Parking was convenient, and the location was excellent. Our room felt a bit pricey for what it offered, so a standard room might have been a better choice. The reception team and the rest of the staff were very nice and well trained. All in all, a great hotel.

Freiburg is a beautiful town, and this was the best choice we made for our visit. The hotel is family-friendly and right in a great central spot. Breakfast and every staff member were great too. We had no complaints and hope to return.

The dining was a letdown. Breakfast, the limited choices, and the food and drink experience could all be better, especially with Freiburg's restaurants just outside. Nearby places are only a two-minute walk away, but guests paying to eat at the hotel should get a better experience. The location is one of the hotel's strongest points. Mercure Freiburg Am Münster is steps from Freiburg Münster, in the historic Altstadt, close to cafés, the Bächle streams, the cathedral square, shopping streets, restaurants, and seasonal Christmas markets. It's easy to explore the city center on foot. As an ALL Diamond member, Accor's top tier, I was very disappointed by the loyalty benefits. I got no room upgrade, no meaningful welcome amenity, and treatment that felt the same as for non-members. That makes me question the value of earning Diamond status. Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, and IHG generally offer tangible elite benefits even at mid-tier properties, so the difference was striking. The staff, though, deserve real credit. From check-in through checkout, everyone was professional, courteous, and helpful. Reception was efficient and welcoming, and housekeeping kept things to a high standard. Service was the hotel's biggest asset.
