My husband and I stayed here a few days ago and woke in the middle of the night to bugs all over the bed. We had to leave at midnight and check into another nearby hotel. The hotel staff didn't seem surprised by our complaint. We photographed bed bug traps placed under our mattress, which we felt showed the hotel knew about a bed bug problem. My husband wrote a review afterward, but it has since been taken down, likely by hotel staff. That's wrong, customers have a right to know. I strongly recommend against staying here.

This is a traditional rooming house in a beautiful building, with a traditional restaurant. It feels charming and authentic. Bring Euros, since they aren't accepting credit cards right now, and you can't exchange cash in Fussen.

We left without paying, and I’m writing this as a warning to anyone thinking of eating here. We were in Germany by car and had loved exploring the country, its scenery, buildings, roads, cars, and people. I’m American, and people had generally been kind or at least professional and courteous. I don’t have cell service in Germany, so my options for finding places while on the road were limited. Bräustüberl appeared on my GPS and looked German enough from outside. It was around 19:00 on Saturday. Inside, there was just one couple sharing a salad. We should have left right away, since we recognized the warning signs. We ordered water, snitzel, and a duck dish from staff who didn't speak English. The other couple left, and we sat drinking water for 30 minutes in an otherwise empty restaurant. When the food came, the fries were raw inside and the Spitzel was so salty it couldn't be eaten. The duck was cold in the middle and blood red, while its potatoes looked odd and tasted off. I wondered if it could have been done on purpose, since it seemed so bad that surely no one would think it was acceptable. We each took one bite and didn't know what to do. Using Google Translate, I politely asked the kind elderly waitress if we could leave because the food wasn't edible. She asked the cook, a gruff, portly middle-aged man who claimed not to speak English, though he occasionally spoke full sentences. He offered half off the Spitzel, bringing the bill to about 30 Euro, including 5 Euro for water. I said we'd had a glass of water and one bite of terrible food, and that I didn't want to buy it, he could keep it. I offered 10 Euro for his time and to try to bridge the gap. He insisted on at least 30 Euro and threatened to call the police to make me pay. I said I wasn't afraid of the police, they were my friend and would help resolve things. He called them, and they arrived quickly and told him it was a civil matter. I offered 10 Euro again to settle it, and even offered 20 at one point to put the matter behind us, but he still would not take less than 30 Euro.

I booked the hotel through booking and got a confirmation letter, but when I arrived they said my name wasn't there. I showed them the letter and everything, and they still said no. That sucks!
