The staff were great and helpful, and we liked the honesty bar idea: you can take things from the breakfast area at any time and have the charge added to your room. We didn't use it, but appreciated the setup. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the station, which was fine for us. We arrived late, called the number provided, and got the key code right away. There is no late reception, so arrange this ahead if you expect to arrive late. After eight days hiking the Lechweg trail, we crossed from Austria into Germany and stayed in standard double room No. 207 on the second floor. It was tiny, with no room to open two large suitcases. The huge wardrobe felt unnecessary in such a small space, and its door wouldn't stay shut, so we had to prop a chair against it. We could hear water running from the plant room next door. The walls didn't insulate sound, and a crying child could be heard for much of the night. In the small en-suite bathroom, the sliding door is fitted on the outside and leaves a 3cm gap at the wall. You can hear someone using the bathroom, so it isn't very functional if you'd rather not hear morning routines. The mattress was very hard, the pillows awful, and I personally struggled to sleep well. We only found out about the Fussen card by reading the leaflets, then asked for it the next morning before heading to Neuschwanstein Castle. Bus tickets are free with the card, and it comes with the accommodation, so ask for it if nobody offers it.

The clean, well-kept room was a plus, but getting to Villa Toscana Hotel was awkward. It's quite far from the train station, there isn't public transport nearby, and the walk was dark, which didn't feel safe in the evening. I was also caught off guard by the checkout time before 10 am. The booking site hadn't made that clear, and it felt early compared with the 11 or 12 o'clock checkout most hotels have. The hotel should make the time easier to see when people book.

The garden has lovely Alpine views. At sunset, the light makes the hill turn pink. Breakfast was delicious, with great coffee and a good buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and using English was no problem for me. Some parts of the hotel are a bit worn, though I liked the old charm. Everything was clean and well kept. It's a perfect place to stay if you're planning to see the castles.

We loved our stay, especially the balcony view of the Alps, which was mesmerizing. The bed was great, the shower was wonderful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We also had massages in the fitness room, which was a real plus. The hotel seemed recently refurbished and under new management, and it's an easy 10-minute walk from the train station. It checked all the boxes for us.

We got there around 8 PM for a one-night stay, and the place felt ghostly, with nobody around and no lights in the alley. The room felt spooky too. The wardrobe creaked every time we walked past it. Nothing actually happened, but it gave that impression. Breakfast was pretty average. The view was beautiful, and I didn't get to try the yoga retreat. Overall it felt more like a hostel than a hotel.
