Hotel Sternen

We ended up staying a second night while on a motorcycle tour because we’d had such a brilliant evening. The hotel owner has a snooker and pool bar across the road, and we had a great time there. The rooms were spotless, had coffee-making facilities, and we were quickly welcomed and shown in. On the second night, the owner, who’s a chef, made us the biggest meal I’ve ever seen, then kept us entertained with snooker and beer. When one of our bikes wouldn’t start, Tino went home to get jump leads and got it running. You don’t often get service like that, so I had to write a review. A top place to stop if you’re touring the back forest by bike.

The festive feel and attentive staff made the Christmas buffet at Hotel Gasthof Sternen a really enjoyable meal. There was a good range of food, and everything I tried was well prepared. I had a great experience.

We had a spacious, clean double room with an extra bed, and room service was good. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant were friendly and happy to help with local information. Our booking included a varied, excellent breakfast, and we also enjoyed dinner at the nearby restaurant, especially the Indian vegetarian dishes. The hotel is surrounded by nature and has excellent views, near the Swiss border and a 35-minute drive from the Rhine Falls. There’s also a swimming pool, but it was closed because of Covid, and I’m not sure when it will reopen.

The restaurant food was excellent, and the service was very good. The hotel is in a perfect spot, with easy access to the main attractions and city center. I’ll surely come back again xx
