On my last day, I wanted wild ragout to celebrate the wonderful time I'd had in the beautiful countryside. Berghof was the only nearby restaurant that was open, and it turned out to be a lovely experience. The waitress was very friendly and experienced at making guests comfortable and getting them the food they wanted. I sat by the window near a beautiful nativity scene, and the wild ragout tasted heavenly. Highly recommend it if you want a little magic in your life! My holiday in the Vulcaneifel was wonderful, thanks both to Auszeit am eifelstieg and to Berghof.

It's a handy base for hiking or seeing the area, and the owner and staff are friendly. We chose half board, which felt very German. The food wasn't bad, but usually came with fried or baked potatoes, croquettes and fries. For a room with breakfast, the price was excellent for what you got.

The nearby maar, or volcanic lake, makes this a good base for exploring the Volcanic Eifel. Hotel Berghof is a small, family-run three-star place with a restaurant, and it feels carefully looked after. Our room was clean and cozy, with down bedding. At the restaurant, you can order à la carte or choose from a small seasonal daily menu. Everything was prepared to a high standard, and the owner still cooks himself. Service was attentive, friendly and efficient. Breakfast had meats, dairy, muesli and fruit, and the drinks list included a good range of quality alcoholic options.

During the pandemic we ordered ahead and picked up our food. The process was smooth, the food was delicious, and the portions were huge. Each dish was packed separately in an insulated container and came with a little pot of sauce. The value was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant area has a lovely view and a cool 1950s feel. It's well maintained and in good condition.
