Stadthotel Pfeffermuhle

Christine at reception was so kind and always smiling, she’s the reason for the fifth star. The hotel is quiet, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the centre, so the location is perfect. The rooms are nice and clean. I’d definitely recommend it for a short visit to this beautiful little city.

Gengenbach is such a pretty town, and we had a lovely room with a balcony to sit on. The hotel was clean and charming, with very friendly staff who spoke excellent English. Breakfasts were fresh, tasty, and plentiful. We had a lovely couple of nights here.

The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was nice, though it may not suit British tourists looking for a fry-up. Gengenbach is a nice town, but there isn’t much to do there, so I’d suggest taking day trips by train, perhaps to Strasbourg. The heat was the problem for us. There’s no air conditioning, so we had to leave the window and balcony door open all night with the fan running. Most nights we couldn’t fall asleep until after midnight.

The beds were excellent, fluffy, and very clean, and we slept really well. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and warm. The hotel itself was spotless, and the personal service was very kind. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were kind and attentive and wanted to make sure guests were comfortable. If you’re in the area, you can confidently choose this very good hotel.
