Restaurant Pension

We slept really well in the spacious room on the second floor, right next to the hallway toilet. It had a homely, grandmother's childhood bedroom feel. The windows let in some noise from the nearby church and street, but the room was still surprisingly quiet and it didn't bother us. We're glad we could avoid the long, stressful rush-hour commute to Germersheim the next morning and start the day relaxed. The room was very clean and comfortably furnished, with a shower and sink, TV, table and two chairs, closet, and a set of hand and bath towels. We missed having a bin and hand soap. I think we could have got another set of towels if we'd asked. The toilet was clean and bright, as described, and conveniently close to our room. We got a friendly welcome and were asked what time we'd like breakfast. The value for money was excellent. We found free street parking above the guesthouse. The entrance is behind the restaurant, and calling the owner's mobile gets the door opened. We didn't spot a doorbell. As the description says, everything is simple. The building is old, with the steep, narrow stairs typical of its era, so it isn't really suitable for people with disabilities. That wasn't an issue for us.

It's been a year since I last sat outside, and today it felt heartwarming, with a lovely 🌄 and a fresh mushroom. I had a nice chat with the super friendly owner. I'll definitely be back 👌

The service was friendly, and I liked the urban setting. Fine for a drink, but I wouldn't eat here again. The sauce seemed ready-made, the Allgäu cheese on the menu turned out to be Gouda, and the chanterelles seemed like they might have come from a can. The rösti needed more time in the oven, and the price didn't feel justified. NEVER AGAIN.

The staff were really attentive and friendly, and the food quality was excellent. The price-performance ratio was very good too. I'd definitely come back!
