Primetime Hotel

Getting here is easy, just off the autobahn. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly. A very nice hotel.

It’s quiet here, and there’s a great steak restaurant right next door. The hotel is conveniently located by the motorway, with modern, very clean rooms and friendly staff. What a place.

The room was clean apart from a light dusting on the shelves, but there was almost no privacy on the first floor. People in the parking lot could see into my room, so I had to choose between keeping it dark and letting them look in. I picked this hotel hoping for a quiet weekend and some rest. That didn’t happen, and I wasn’t even given a real apology. I was met with contempt and snickering. Both mornings, at 10, the woman at reception woke me with how loudly she spoke. Her voice carried everywhere, and the remodeling men and housekeeping added to the noise. On Sunday I asked her to keep it down. It stayed quieter for an hour, then she got twice as loud. Guests were slamming doors and making noise until midnight both nights, and the restaurant parking lot was noisy until 11 pm on both days. If you want noise, rude receptionists, and a place in the middle of nowhere, this might suit you. On weekends you also have to walk 1 km to reach the bus. Disappointment doesn’t begin to describe my experience.

For over 100 euros a night, I expected basic things like room service, a phone, drinking water, a minibar, a robe, slippers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, coffee, and breakfast included. There was none of that. Even the bed was two standard mattresses pushed together instead of a queen-size one. These are ordinary basics at hotels in this price range worldwide. Either management has never stayed in a “real” hotel, or this is simply a rip-off.
