Apartmenthaus Brunnenhof

We’d happily stay here again. It’s a great base for hiking, and the location is really quiet. The accommodation was clean, with good Wi-Fi, a TV, and a kitchen, plus plenty of parking. Our room had a huge bathtub, too. The bakery is just a five-minute walk away.

We could step straight outside and be surrounded by nature, which made the place especially good with our dog. After hiking, the sauna was a welcome extra. The apartment at Brunnenhof was pretty and cozy, with charming details in the building and carefully chosen antique furniture. We booked at short notice for a weekend and got a very warm welcome, even though we arrived spontaneously. We were allowed to check out later than planned without having to ask. Thanks so much for the hospitality. I’d go back anytime, and hope to see you again soon.

The apartment building at Am Papststein is nicely furnished and was clean and tidy. Still, the €160.00 daily rate feels high, especially with the €2.00 daily tourist tax and an extra €12.00 per day for a dog. The photos are somewhat misleading because they show two different apartments. There were tripping hazards in the building, and we couldn’t get Wi-Fi reception even though it was advertised as an extra. It’s not suitable for anyone with mobility issues: there are stairs to the apartment and another set inside leading to the bedrooms.

This is one of Germany’s most beautiful areas if you like spending time outdoors, and it’s worth considering for that reason. But at 260 euros a day, I expected more, especially in terms of service. The kitchen was oddly incomplete, with crystal goblets instead of ordinary drinking glasses and no cooking spoon or spatula. When I raised it, the landlady said they hadn’t had time to check everything. She was unfortunately very condescending, which was a real shame. Cleanliness seemed to have been overlooked too, at least in the less obvious places. We can’t recommend the apartment.
