We came as two couples with two dogs and had adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean, though a little worn, which seems fair for an older property. The bathroom, for instance, is modern. There’s a lovely walking path from the grounds straight into the forest, and the area itself is beautiful. Dinner with the restaurant’s delicious food and beer was great, and nearby Volkshaus was divine. We even dressed up for one evening’s dinner at the property, which was so lovely. I can’t wait to come back.

Bookings are essential if you want the full experience. Our afternoon and evening had plenty of surprises: first we toured the brewery and sampled their great range of craft beers, then had a knights’ dinner with musicians who were just right for that kind of evening. What an amazing time at this Hotel und Gasthof.

I try to stay here whenever I’m in the area. It’s a wonderful hotel, with a peaceful setting, really comfortable rooms, great staff, and a good range at breakfast.
