The sauna was gorgeous. I went twice and had it to myself both times. The rooms are spacious, and there's a lovely grassy area with deckchairs where you can see the Zugspitze on a clear day. Untergrainau train station is literally 30 seconds away. My only complaint, and it wasn't enough to take off a star, is that there was a kettle and coffee maker but no coffee. A few sachets would be a nice touch, since there's no cafe nearby.

Grainau is charming, and we loved our apartment. The host was gracious and came to meet us at the front door a few minutes after we rang the bell at 17h00, then showed us in. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds were firm with warm down comforters, and there was plenty of hot water. Very clean, too. Two thumbs up!

I booked an apartment listed online for 2-4 people, with a double bed and sofa in the room, and an area of 34 qm2. What I got was only 25 qm2 and had no sofa. The owner said it was big enough for us. Never again!

The apartment didn't answer when I contacted them five times with questions or requests for more information about the stay. I can't stress enough that I'd avoid dealing with this owner. It isn't worth spending your money!

The owner was lovely and helpful, and the modern accommodation was good value. It's close to all the points of interest and works well for families or friends. We'll definitely be back.
