Stadt Cafe Pension Grünstadt

The breakfast was included, plentiful, and delicious. Our rooms were clean and perfectly adequate for two nights, though a common room would have been a nice addition. We booked the Stadt Café for the wine hike in Freinsheim. Check-in for our four couples was very straightforward. We’d gladly stay again!

Well. The breakfast room wasn’t open on the second day. There was no free parking, only paid parking opposite. The windows and blinds rattled, and noise from the neighbors came through clearly. The room was outdated, and the shower head was held together with tape. The dried flowers badly needed watering, and the hallway smelled of smoke. The guesthouse hallways were cluttered with laundry, drying racks, and old cribs, blocking the escape routes.

The coffee is excellent, and the service is friendly. The café is very centrally located, and on a nice day the terrace is inviting. You can sit for a while and enjoy the city view. The roll looked so good that I had to try it first, and it was just as good as I expected. I took the second photo on another day before eating.

With all due respect, I don’t understand how this place got so many good reviews. There’s no reception, and you have to pick up your keys from a box. On top of that, there’s no parking except for paid parking across the street, and the rooms are extremely noisy, with rattling windows and blinds. There’s no air conditioning, and some rooms face the garbage containers. The rooms are completely outdated. Laundry and clothes racks blocked the guesthouse hallways and the escape routes, which is a clear violation of all safety regulations. The beds have wooden ends, so watch out if you’re taller than 1.80m (5'11"). Is that enough? Any questions?
