sweet dream hostel & pension - Self Check-In

For a really affordable place, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean. There’s a market just outside, and the hotel is right in the city center. I’m still not sure whether to call it a hotel or a hostel; it felt more like a hotel, just without staff on site. The check-in kiosk was simple to use and had several languages. I’d stay again when I’m in the area.

We were a family of three and stayed just one night on our way to Rohstock. The hostel is relaxed and comfortable, right in central Güstrow opposite the church. The sights are easy to reach on foot, with restaurants and a supermarket just a few metres away. There’s no breakfast, but nearby cafés and the supermarket made that no problem for us. Self check-in was easy: enter your name, pay, and get the key. There’s parking about 100 metres away. Our clean room had a refrigerator, which was great. There’s no air conditioning, but opening the windows in the evening made sleeping fine. The staff were kind and helpful, around in the morning and again at 14 hours when self check-in opens. Güstrow is a laid-back town. Bring cash, as most places don’t take Visa or Mastercard.

Sweet Dream worked well for my overnight stop between Rostock and Schwerin. I use public transport, so having the bus stop about 100 meters across from the building was a big plus. Buses run roughly every 15 minutes through the day. The rooms were spotless, and there was a fixed hairdryer in the bathroom. I liked having an elevator and regular keys, especially since a regular key always works. The building is right by the old market in the heart of the old village, which made for lovely evening walks. Great value and service, highly recommended.

Really lovely place. It felt like a proper hotel, not a hostel. Great location, clean, friendly staff, and even a bathtub. Definitely recommend it.
