The apartment itself was spacious, very clean, and superbly equipped. Kids can stay busy all day here, from feeding the animals together in the morning to riding the huge range of vehicles, playing in the barn, and joining other activities. A great choice for a family holiday.

My twins were so sad when it was time to leave, and they're still proud of all the animals they got to pet. It was my first holiday on my own with them, and it turned out wonderfully. Elke, the heart of the farm, was always there for the children and did her best to make everything possible. The farm, rooms, and vehicles are all well worth recommending. If you want a relaxing holiday with kids, this is the place. We'll definitely return! 🐖🐐🐓🐔🐹🐱

The child-friendly rooms have little things that make a difference: toilet seats, stools, bed rails, high chairs, children's cutlery, and even books in the apartment. No need to bring toys or books. Outside, there's a huge choice of ride-on toys for every age, plus swings, a sandbox with toys, and a trampoline. The play barn has plenty of creative ways to keep busy when the weather's bad. You can walk to Lake Altmühl on a pleasant route, and there are other places to visit nearby. Ms. Beißer takes loving care of the animals and gets the children involved in feeding goats, pigs, chickens, and guinea pigs. I highly recommend it. Our child would have been happy to stay forever.

The weekly barbecue, with bread cooked over the campfire, was a highlight for all of us. A neighbor also sells fresh takeaway pizza every two weeks, which was delicious and very popular. We stayed for two great weeks in summer 2022, a family of six with four children, at Sonnengarten holiday farm. We've been to many farms around Gunzenhausen, Altmühlsee, and Brombachsee, and this one has a charm of its own. The children made good use of the play barn, with table football, a chalkboard, and games, as well as the many outdoor vehicles: Cat Cars, diggers, scooters, and more. The garden was lovely for sitting together, and the kids enjoyed the small playground. There aren't many animals, but helping the hostess in the barn was a great experience for them. The apartments are thoughtfully furnished and very well equipped, with nothing missing. Fly screens, a private parking space for each apartment, and very stable Wi-Fi made things convenient, even for online activities. Small glitches during busy periods were rare. A couple of things to know: the hostess is organized and clear about rules for quiet hours, tidying, and behavior around the farm. That kept things running smoothly. It may take some families a little getting used to, though we found it helpful and understandable. Sometimes kids need clear boundaries. The play barn is simpler than at some other farms, but perfectly adequate, and the outdoor ride-on toys keep them entertained. We felt very comfortable and give Ferienhof Sonnengarten 5 out of 5 stars. For a lovingly run farm with good facilities, reliable Wi-Fi, and genuine hospitality, this was exactly what we wanted. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The children were captivated by the visit to the dairy farm in the neighboring village. The tour was informative and engaging, and it spoke openly about animal welfare rather than sugarcoating things. Another day, we helped Friedrich Beiß move logs. He's always tinkering with improvements around the Sonnengarten family farm, usually with great music playing. We rode the tractor to the sawmill, where the carpenter explained everything in detail and made it fun. Our son was amazed. We spent nearly a week in Apartment 3 at the Sonnengarten family farm at the end of March 2025 and felt welcome right away. The farm is a comfortable size, especially with small children. They quickly learn their way around and can move freely and safely. There are thoughtful little corners to explore for adults and kids, too. The Beißer family runs the place. Elke has done so for 32 years with her family, and everyone is warm and attentive. You feel included in farm life, not just like a guest. The apartments are cozy, with lots of handmade wooden furniture and small play areas. Each morning at eight, the children can help feed the goats, pigs, chickens, and guinea pigs and collect eggs. Then there's swinging, digging, playing, and riding bikes. The farm has loads of kids' vehicles, from go-karts to mini forklifts, so they can explore the whole place. Even in bad weather, there's a large play barn with a play kitchen, chalkboard, climbing frame, and lots of carefully chosen toys. We also enjoyed the spontaneous fun, like a campfire with sausages and later bread roasted on sticks. One evening, Elke's daughter and her children joined in. She'll take over the farm in the future and is already very involved, which adds to the family feel. The little farm shop sells regional products like wine, sparkling wine, jam, and more, carefully chosen from local producers. The weather kept changing, but we had some warm sunny days, and the rain didn't leave us short of things to do. It's a place to arrive, take a breath, and feel at home. There aren't overly planned activities, just real, lively country life, warm and welcoming for children. Great for a few relaxing days with kids. We'll definitely be back.
