After more than eight hours of driving, several of them in heavy rain, I arrived at 20:10, just ten minutes past check-in time. The hotel was dark, there was nobody around, and there were no instructions for getting in. I called the number they provided, and the landlord was rude and dismissive. He said check-in had ended at 20:00 and that he was already at home, more than 30 km away. I do wonder how he could have driven that far in ten minutes, since that would mean going over 180 km/h in the area. I tried to work something out with him, but he wasn't willing to make any effort. The call ended, and I had to find somewhere else to stay that night. A terrible experience with a rude landlord.

I booked a room and got there at 21:30, but nobody was there, so I had to sleep in my car. A lot of hotels have a way for late guests to get in after reception closes, like sending a door code to collect the key. This hotel doesn't offer that. If they don't work after 8 pm, they should say so on their website. Very bad hotel. 🤨

It's quiet, idyllic countryside, a great spot to relax or go for a run after work. I slept with the windows open and didn't hear any noise. There's no Wi-Fi in the room, only in the restaurant, which has limited opening hours.

Even by low-budget standards, this was a nightmare. The furniture looked at least 30 years old, the rooms smelled, and the towels were dirty. The room doors were paper-thin, in a noisy building behind the yard.
