The location is the one thing I’d recommend. There’s a lovely garden, but the room was small and due for an update. I couldn’t see other facilities. My husband spotted a little whirlpool that wasn’t working, and the “pool” had definitely seen better days. The set dinner was just soup, a meat main and dessert, with no option to order only soup and chips when I asked. There weren’t other restaurants nearby, and the closest one was closed on Monday. The Czech mother and daughter serving beer were really lovely, though. For the price, this felt more like an overpriced hikers’ hostel than a hotel.

We’d come down from Lilienstein after the hike up and back, and needed a break with food and a beer. The cold beer and a seat outside hit the spot, and the potato soup was very good. There’s an interesting story behind how the family brought this place back to life. Worth stopping by if you’re in the area and need a rest.

The food was really tasty, and the owners made us feel welcome. Service was great too. We stopped for lunch with the family, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The setting is amazing, quiet and relaxing, with great views. Check the opening hours first, though, since they don’t always have enough guests to stay open. If you’re coming as a bigger group, let them know ahead of time and they might open for you.

That garden view is really beautiful, and the staff were just so lovely. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, were a bit small, but that’s not much of an issue if you’re out exploring a lot.

The garden is very nice and the location is absolutely beautiful. When we arrived, the room had a strong, almost sickening perfume smell. Otherwise, no complaints.
