Hostel im Medizinerviertel

I’d recommend the Hostel’s Berliner Straße location, especially a room facing the courtyard. It has several locations. The room’s quiet was the most important thing for me because I’d travelled for my second state exam. Thanks so much for honoring my request for a courtyard room, it saved my grade. The hostel had what I expected: it was clean, the kitchen had the basic utensils, and the bathroom had a washing machine as well as a shower. Steintor is a five-minute walk away, with good tram links in all directions. The main station is only 7-10 minutes away that way.

We saw rooms listed on many booking sites, but ours looked nothing like the advertised rooms. Even a cheap place could be cleaner and decorated with more care!!! 😡 My partner booked us two nights at Zacher. We didn’t stay for the second one. The hallway had a very musty smell, and entry was through the backyard. The room’s cleanliness left a lot to be desired: the linens were already falling apart, and long cobwebs hung on the walls. Once and never again.

The location is excellent, with a Rewe and a Lidl right next door, and quick access to the city center and main train station. The lady was very nice and showed us everything in detail, but the apartment wasn’t clean enough. The floor was sticky, and the tables, including the standing table, had stains. It smelled extremely musty. The bathroom was quite clean and smelled fresh, aside from a few small issues, but some cutlery and dishes in the drawer were too dirty to use. The beds had fresh sheets, though the pillows smelled so bad that I sprinkled them with Febreze. I could have cleaned the room myself.

The place is a little tucked away, though there’s a supermarket and other essentials nearby. For anyone on a budget, it’s generally a good option, and I’d recommend it. I’ve visited someone there and stayed in a room myself. The bathrooms could use updating, but otherwise it’s perfectly fine for a youth hostel. The facilities are acceptable and the price is reasonable. 👍
