Sauerländer Hof

A great base for a motorcycle holiday in the Sauerland. The owner is kind and helpful.

I'm annoyed we didn't eat here sooner. The food was incredibly delicious, from the amuse-bouche to the swede tart and fresh bread with lard. That crusty evening bread was amazing. The menu was limited because of the ski jumping, but there was still a good selection. The fresh side salad had a delicious vinaigrette, not the usual standard dressing. Main dishes ranged from venison with homemade spaetzle to classic options, all made with great ingredients. Many thanks to the kitchen team. Service was attentive and very friendly too. We'll definitely be back.

The owner’s humor may not be for everyone, and we didn't get a particularly warm welcome. Still, we had great, clean rooms, a superb location, and delicious food. Breakfast was perfect, and we wanted for nothing. We especially appreciated that our dog was welcome and there was no extra charge, which is rare. The price-performance ratio is excellent. We'd gladly come back and would definitely recommend the hotel.

The service deserves credit, everyone was exceptionally friendly. As for the food, it was minimalist and not exactly a culinary highlight, and the price-performance ratio didn't feel right. Maybe the kitchen was just having an off day. The rooms are in a Gelsenkirchen Baroque style, but the price is right.
