Hotel Engel

My colleagues' rooms looked much more modern and updated, and I'd probably rate the rooms differently if I'd been in one of those. Mine was old-fashioned, outdated, and poorly repaired. It was extremely noisy, with everything audible through the walls. Noise from other rooms and the hallway had me up at 5 AM. There was no air conditioning, coffee, or tea in the room. I was there on a business trip; it's a decent spot north of Hamburg, within walking distance of a few restaurants.

The food at the restaurant was one of the best things I ate in Hamburg, and breakfast had a big selection of fresh, tasty options. The hotel is near a forest, so it was peaceful to explore the surroundings and get away from the daily bustle. Hotel Engel's rooms were clean, cozy, and well kept. There was no air conditioning, but opening the window was enough to keep the room comfortable. Both the room and the meals were reasonably priced and good value. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Engel in Hamburg, which exceeded my expectations. It brings together comfort, good food, and a quiet natural setting, whether you're visiting for work or leisure.

The hotel doesn't look like much from outside, but the room was good and the staff were fantastic. They welcomed us warmly, spoke good English, and gave us spot-on directions both to the concert stadium and for public transport. The bar was still open when we got back at 0130am, and the barman was friendly. It's a little out of the way, but the underground station is about a 750 metre walk, which worked fine for us.

The garden in the middle is relaxing and very well kept. Rooms are beautifully decorated, with classy furniture, and housekeeping is discreet. Breakfast was great too. If you're in the area, I'd recommend staying a night or two.
