My stay from 1-2.10.25 was spoiled by a rude man at reception. After I misheard his question, he told me, “I should learn German better.” I'm autistic and may not hear properly in a new situation. I also have an academic degree in German studies and a university certificate as a German language teacher, so I saw that “joke” as a professional insult. When I said he wasn't being friendly, he replied that it was very German, that I needed to get used to it, and that he was telling the truth: “I need to practice more.” I speak six languages, four fluently, but he acted as if he could “teach me life” and judge my language skills. He also insulted my country of origin, Russia. I paid 96 euro and ended up crying because of that check-in. When I tried to talk about it, I felt gaslighted. I don't think this behavior is okay or professional, and I think it should be unacceptable. This hotel might have got a good review if not for the staff. Is this German hospitality at its finest?

There isn't an elevator, just a very narrow, steep, winding staircase, which makes hauling luggage up and down difficult. There's no proper luggage storage for early check-in or late checkout either, only the main dining area. Americans should know there's no air conditioning. It's right beside the red light district and feels more suited to young people than families. I wouldn't recommend it for families.

I stayed one night, 6.3.25. The hotel is a block from the red light district, and there's graffiti everywhere. The circular stairs are very steep, and there's no lift, so if you can't manage stairs, you can't stay here. Parking is a few blocks away around the corner.

Our basement room was hot and poorly ventilated, with lots of bugs. It was also very noisy, both from the street and the subway.

The location was good, and the basic room was enough. We had a room for four on the top floor, and it was completely quiet with no problems. There were no frills, though, and the price was €400 a night. That's far too much for this standard of hotel, even with the location, so three stars.
