Milano Hotel

The breakfast room was cozy and had plenty of good food, and I’d stay here again. The hotel was surprisingly nice and clean. Parking is a four-minute walk away, at Hamburger Mile parking garage, and costs only 3 euros for 24 hours. The signs are tiny and confusing, but once we realized this was the place, we were fine.

Basic room, with a kettle but no cups or coffee. The front of the hotel was noisy, there was no smoke alarm, and the key got stuck in the safe.

The room was clean, and at first it seemed like it might be a nice stay. But about half an hour before the advertised checkout time, someone started knocking hard and repeatedly. When I asked who it was and why they were knocking like that, a man brusquely told me I had to check out immediately. I opened the door and spoke to two Asian men who had also knocked on nearby rooms. I pointed out the official checkout time listed on the website. One denied it, so I offered to show him, and did. They said okay, then left and went quiet. When I was ready to leave, I saw the same two men on the stairs. I was carrying the keys to drop in the designated box downstairs, but the man I’d spoken to earlier said I could hand them to him, so I did and left. Hours later, I got a call saying the keys had not been returned as requested. I’ve traveled to many countries and cities on different continents and never experienced anything like this. It’s an absolute sham. Either the hotel staff aren’t authorized to be there, or authorized hotel personnel are acting fraudulently. Either way, the hotel should be reported and the owner held accountable.

The area was very noisy, and the place felt like a weird, nonstandard hotel. There’s no reception. This was my worst overnight stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
