The women’s dorm was on its own floor, which made it feel safe, and both the bedroom and WCs were clean. I stayed in a four-bed female room and found it excellent. The receptionist was friendly, and the bed linen was provided, though you’ll need to bring your own locker lock. Noise wasn’t an issue on the second floor, despite complaints that seem to come from people in the mixed dorms on the first. Lidl nearby is handy. I’d book again if I’m back in Hamburg.

The reception wasn’t open during its stated hours, and you can’t lock the shower room. My room was run down, with a window onto the hallway that let light in all night. Since the hostel is above a club/bar on the first floor, it was impossible to sleep before 4am, even with earplugs. This place deserves zero stars.

The girls’ floor was always very clean, which was the best part. I had a good time and met nice people, and the rooms are separated by floor. The pillows are awful and really need replacing. The reception is beside the kitchen, which is nice for chatting with people, but your clothes stink afterwards. There isn’t a shared lounge with sofas to relax in.

The room was spacious, with large windows and plenty of air, which matters a lot to me. It’s a clean, cozy hostel in central Hamburg. I paid €56 for two nights through Booking.com, plus €1.3 per night for culture and tourism tax. Wi-Fi, kitchen, shower, tea and coffee were included. Highly recommend!
