The cleaners knocked on my door twice and woke me hours before my midday checkout. I hadn’t asked for cleaning and hadn’t checked out yet, even though I know I could have put up a do not disturb sign. The rooms are tiny, dated, and in bad shape: horrible carpet, a mattress that may be the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on, and pillows that were far too thin. It felt like prison. Maybe it’s a somewhat cheap hotel, but I’ve stayed in cheaper places that were nicer. I’d never stay here again.

The rooms are small but fine for a short stay. The toilet kept flushing for long stretches, breakfast was expensive, and the bar and other places close early, so there are no late-night drinks.

The staff were very pleasant, the rooms stayed clean, and the bathroom was modern. There was a free, stocked minibar, and breakfast was good too. The hotel is beside the train station, making it easy to get around since trains run 24 hours. I’d definitely stay again in Hamburg. One caution: the shower went cold and then very hot a few times, and others mentioned the same thing. Be careful with smaller children, though it wouldn’t put me off staying.

The staff were friendly, and the current promotion lets hotel guests ride all public transportation for free during their stay, which was a great plus. Our room was clean, which mattered most to us, though it felt a little small and the beds weren’t very comfortable. I’d stay here again.
