Jugendherberge Horner Rennbahn - Hostel

We were on a 5-day class trip, staying in a 6-people room in the old building, not the modern new one shown on the cover. On arrival it looked run-down and almost like a prison, with creaky, old-fashioned interiors. We had to put on our own bed and blanket covers. There was no soap, bath towel, or blow-dryer, and the room had no bathroom of its own. Each hallway had only 2 WC for everyone there. Within 5 minutes of setting up, my classmates had found bugs, mold, and spiderwebs. There were multiple creases in the room ceiling. The shower looked fine at first, but up close there were lots of bugs and spiders on the walls and ceiling. To keep the water running, you had to keep pushing a button hard, and each press lasted around 20 seconds. The wifi was slow and kept disconnecting. Sprays can't be used in the room because they set off the fire alarm, and setting it off means a fine. Definitely not worth the price, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Guests keep blocking the pavement with their scooters.

The room was nice. When they couldn't give us 3 beds in one room, they gave us 2 rooms at no extra charge. Check-in was quick and easy, and breakfast was very nice with a good selection. Still water in the room would have been better than sparkling, though snacks and drinks are available in the lobby. It worked out great as a last-minute hotel after our easy jet flight was cancelled and there was no one to help us.

Breakfast had a nice range of choices, and the staff were helpful. The place was clean and comfortable too. It’s a little way from the centre, though there’s a bus into the city regularly.
