Radisson Blu Hotel, Hamburg

I’ve stayed here several times while traveling as air crew and have always had a very enjoyable visit. The location is a big plus: close to Hamburg’s old town, next to Dammtor train station and Stephansplatz metro station, and directly connected to Congress Center Hamburg. It’s also one of the city’s tallest buildings. The interiors are modern and sensibly laid out, and the rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. They aren’t especially quiet, though. In some rooms you can hear corridor activity and the lift moving. The leisure club has enough machines for cardio and basic weights, though a broader dumbbell selection and a pull-up and dip rack would help. I also really liked the sauna and steam room. Breakfast is fantastic, with a huge range of savory, sweet and healthy choices. Staff have always been polite and professional. The food is where I’d like more variety: at an international hotel like Radisson Blue in Hamburg, relying on Middle Eastern cuisine at both Balustine restaurant and Rooftop Lounge feels limiting. Some fusion dishes might be better. The tahini dressing completely overpowered the tuna tartare, while the steak was cooked perfectly. I strongly recommend the hotel.

Being next to Dammtor train station and Planten un Blomen park made getting around easy, and the views from the upper floors are stunning. You can see across the Alster and over the whole city skyline. The rooms were modern, quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had a huge selection with top quality food. An incredible stay at Hamburg’s tallest hotel, especially for business travelers or anyone wanting a stylish spot in the heart of the city.

We spent a week at Radisson Blu in Hamburg, Germany after booking online, but the experience fell short of what we expect from a hotel of this level. Housekeeping was a major problem: the sheets and pillowcases were never changed, and sometimes smelled unpleasant. We also didn’t feel welcomed on arrival. Check-in was impersonal, and nobody explained the facilities, breakfast area or hours, or other amenities. No one offered to help with our luggage, so we carried all the suitcases ourselves to the 11th floor. Nobody showed us to our room or guided us on arrival, which is basic service at most hotels. The stay was disappointing and didn’t match the service we’ve had elsewhere. I hope the feedback is taken seriously and helps improve the guest experience.

At the lobby, I met kotse and yadi, who were very helpful and gave me good directions for getting to the city center. I followed their advice and bought a ticket for the hop on hop off tour. Yadi' food was delicious and tasty.
