The beds were comfortable enough, the receptionist explained how things worked clearly, and the key let us back in through the outside door late at night. We liked the painting above the bed, the bathroom motion sensor, the little shampoo and shower gel sachets, and the nice multi-layer toilet paper with a spare roll. We also learned a bit about ants. The bathroom was the worst part. There were brownish yellow stains near the toilet and on the flush button, hairs from previous guests on the toilet seat, walls and bed, and a few ants. The shower door wouldn’t shut fully, there was mold in several colors, and the dusty ventilation needed cleaning. When we arrived later in the day, the whole interior smelled like the neighboring kebab restaurant. The toilet area was cramped, the building could be noisy with neighbors audible, and there was a loose electrical wire in the stairwell.

For one night it was reasonably priced and clean enough. The room’s tiny, but fine if sleeping is all you need. Hallway noise carries in pretty loudly.

My friend had booked a full week in Hannover for work and was flying in from abroad, so I called the owner to ask about checking in after 10 p.m., the stated cutoff. The flight was due to land at 10. He reacted angrily to the question, though he grudgingly agreed to wait an extra hour. Then the flight was delayed, and when I called to say my friend might be another 30 minutes late, he refused and said he was leaving at exactly 11. I was worried my friend would be stranded in a small, quiet town in the middle of the night, so I tried to plead with him. He was still rude and offended by the idea of going even slightly out of his way for a guest. Thankfully, my friend found another place at 11 p.m. through the internet. I can’t imagine staying somewhere run by this man would be pleasant. I hope he doesn’t get more business. Anything else has to be better.

Had to shower cold because there was no hot water. The single room was about the size of a shoebox.

For the price, the room was small and not clean. Ventilation was poor, noise came through from the corridor, and the street outside was loud too.
