The staff were very kind and let me check in early at 10:30 am for no extra charge. I was also impressed by the hotel bar, where the skilled staff can make any of the 200-plus cocktails on offer. I had a mint julep, tin cup and all, and it was very nice. There are good, reasonably priced restaurants nearby, and the city center is just around the corner. Breakfast was tasty, varied, and good quality. My room had a fresh bathroom, working aircon, a decent-sized desk and chair, and wifi that worked as it should. The windows faced the street, which was a little too busy to leave open all night, but that was why the aircon was handy. A solid hotel with no complaints, and conveniently located for rail travel.

The breakfast was pretty standard, nothing fancy, but edible. The coffee was a pleasant surprise. At hotels I usually have to press espresso 3 or 4 times, depending on the line, just to get something barely drinkable. The air felt thick in our room, so we kept the windows open until bedtime. It was pretty noisy outside, though that's to be expected in a central location. With the windows shut, it was acceptable. I really don't get the transparent bathroom design. Privacy is nice, even when you're with your spouse.

The room was nice, clean, updated, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, and the location near the train station was convenient. But my room was one of the few without A/C, and I was there during a big heat wave. Between the heat and construction noise right below that started very early, I slept poorly. As far as I see it, the main point of a hotel room is having a comfortable place to sleep, so the other nice things didn't matter. Glad to leave.
