HI Grand City Hotel

It’s 2.30 and I can’t sleep. The room windows face a street with clubs, and the noise is awful. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff were nice, and the service was excellent.

I didn’t end up staying and was still charged €54. The room code wouldn’t work despite repeated tries, and there was no support or emergency contact. After struggling with a complicated self check-in and paying an extra €9, I was left alone and distressed enough to have a panic attack. There was no reception, and the entrance was locked. I arrived around 7 pm as a solo traveller, and the groups of men outside and other activity made the area feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. None of that was mentioned in the listing. A very poor, unacceptable experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

We had a very poor night’s sleep. A club across from our window played loud music all night, and we could still hear it clearly at 9 a.m. as we were leaving. The whole street is a red-light district, so this might suit people looking for a party hotel, but it’s completely unsuitable for families or women travelling alone. We were there with our 10-month-old baby. The reception was friendly and the room was clean, but the drain smelled so strong that we barely wanted to use the bathroom and had to keep its door shut.
