Hotel Central Hannover

Great location, but there’s little else to recommend this hotel. It feels unprofessionally run, with mediocre interiors and cleanliness, rooms allocated chaotically, and bookings mismanaged. Want to find a stranger in pajamas in your room at 10 p.m.? Ask the front desk for a key to a room they say is “unoccupied.”

Check-in was quick, the location is convenient, and the staff were supportive. Cleanliness was decent too. The property is good and I’d recommend it, though a few things were off. Nothing too serious, but I think you can find better options at similar prices, so I’m giving it three stars overall.

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and simple, though the furniture was quite old and didn’t really match. In a funny mix-up, I was given a key to a room where a staff member was sleeping, and woke her when I unlocked the door. They gave me a different room with a fresh bed.

The place looked shabby and run-down, and the value for money wasn’t there. We couldn’t stay at all: roadworks traffic delayed us, and we reached the hotel ten minutes after check-in had closed. A phone number was posted on the door, but nobody answered any of our more than ten calls, so we had to find somewhere else late at night, which was really stressful. When we contacted the hotel the next day, they showed no sympathy or interest in what had happened. The manager promised several times to call me back and never did. The customer service was disgraceful. I’d tell people to stay well away. Calling it a hotel feels generous, it’s more like a one-star bed and breakfast.
