Kronsberger Hof

The table looked lovely, but it was cold in the room, even for my husband, and the chairs were conference-style beside solid wooden tables. The meal and the way we were treated made for a really disappointing evening. The chef seemed to know what he was doing, yet the menu was misleading. Shrimp was listed on the small menu, but what arrived was dark, tasteless crab, with no warning. Maybe the size had something to do with it. I asked for my dish without salad and got salad anyway, even though it didn’t fit the meal, and it wasn’t complimentary. The staff were some of the rudest and least customer-focused I’ve come across. When we asked about sweet white wine, a simple apology that they didn’t have any would have been fine. Instead, “We don’t have it” came across as rude. The usual “Did you enjoy your meal?” felt like an empty nicety too. I said honestly that the food tasted good, but I’d expected shrimp as listed, not crab. The waiter snapped back that I’d been given something much higher quality than I ordered because we weren’t on the Mediterranean. I was speechless. They only told us the bill amount out loud, saying they’d run out of laser paper on a Saturday night, when there was just one other couple there. For drinks, they had no sweet white wine or dark wheat beer, and the “regular” wheat beer was unappetizing. I’ve had plenty of good meals from different cuisines, in places with lovely atmospheres and friendly staff. This was the worst dining experience I can remember. Such a shame.
