Nordmarkt

The room was clean and the furnishings worked, though they looked dated. The bathroom was extremely cramped: sitting on the toilet was practically impossible, and the shower screen had a lid above it that I kept bumping into. The hotel staff also insisted on my personal credit card even though my company was covering the costs. As other reviews on other portals have pointed out, Hotel Nordmarkt, Hotel Südmarkt, and Hotel Denkmal are all at this address. I find it rather odd that there are three “separate” hotels in one place. In my personal opinion, the name Denkmal (Monument) is an ironic fit for the overall state of the place. At least it was clean.

It feels more like a guesthouse set up in one or two apartment buildings. The place is simply a disaster, very unprofessional overall, even though the staff were friendly. Questions were answered with more questions, and paying by credit card wasn't possible because the machine was broken. The “Hotel zum Denkmal” is the same.

The only thing I thought was good was that it was clean. The shower and toilet are both made for short people. The shower was built under a sloping roof, and breakfast was a disaster. The price really doesn't match what you get.

The price for what you get is okay, though the interior feels thrown together. With the winding building and access route, it's not really suited to taller people, around 1.85 m and up.
