The kindness and that smiling welcome from the lady really stayed with us. We felt at home straight away, and the room was spotless. There was water in the room and coffee in the morning at no charge, with wine and beer for just a few euros.

Our room was roomy and clean, even with three of us and all our bags, and breakfast had a good spread of hot and cold choices, from cereal and yogurt to bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. We’d been caught in a torrential thunderstorm while riding back from Sweden to the UK, soaked and exhausted, and had stopped at the first hotel we found hoping for a hot shower and a decent bed. Stefanie went out of her way to help: she tumble-dried our wet clothes, put our leather gear in a warm drying room, locked the motorcycles in her garage, and even drove to a local takeaway when they couldn’t deliver. I don’t think she could have made us feel more welcome.
