The animals were a big hit with our toddler, especially getting to feed the rabbits, goat, sheep, and deer. We stayed in June 2023 as a family of four adults and a little one, and found the house lovely, very clean, and the kitchen fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and appliances. Communication with the owner was excellent, and you can order fresh rolls for breakfast. The traditional Austrian inn Höhenluft is next door and serves good food, though it only opens in the evenings. We cycled a lot, which meant a good climb back in the evenings. All of us give it a thumbs up and full marks.

The hosts are so friendly and always ready to help, and the farm has a lovely sense of community for families who want to join in. There's plenty to keep children busy in any weather, from ride-on toys and a trampoline to a sandbox, animals, a soccer goal, and lots of room to play. The apartments and houses are cozy and comfortably furnished, and the quiet setting lets kids run around freely. We first came when our children were little and still enjoy going back now that they're nearly grown. The area has something for everyone. We'll be back for sure.

With a playground, vehicles, and lots of animals right on the property, it's a great setup for families with little kids. The holiday homes are well equipped, and the peaceful, idyllic setting is still within an easy drive of the lakes.

We had such a good time here with three other families and would gladly return. The apartments and grounds are nicely furnished and well equipped, with the needs of babies and children in mind. It's a very peaceful, scenic spot, while still being close to all the lakes in the Franconian Lake District. I can't speak to the holiday homes, as we stayed in an apartment.

The apartment was nicely furnished, the area is lovely, and the price felt fair. Mrs. Ballenberger and her grandfather were both nice, and the bread roll delivery was a plus. But the place presents itself as easy for families with small children, and that wasn't our experience. There were a few minor cleanliness issues, though they didn't affect the overall experience. The farm is open on all sides, so with a toddler you're constantly following close behind to stop them wandering off. The pond has a fence, but it looked flimsy enough that a two-year-old could lean on it and end up in the water. The grounds also felt overly styled. I found myself imagining a day of telling the kids not to run down a hill in case they broke something. There are a lot of rules around the little track for go-karts and ride-on toys. You have to explain to a two-year-old that they can ride only there, not elsewhere on the property, even when there's an inviting path to a wooden shed, and that the track is one-way. It's possible to manage, but it doesn't suit two- or three-year-olds. You also pass an area full of things left outside that look tempting to children, and there are other possible hazards, so it felt like we had to stay right beside them all the time. The small outdoor play area didn't work for toddlers either. The play and climbing frame is about two meters high or maybe more, with one whole side open and no safety barrier. It could have been secured, but instead I was constantly moving around underneath to keep my child away from the edge. The indoor playroom looked more like a furnished classroom than a space for children. All the rules made the place feel static, and I didn't feel at home. I felt out of place there with a toddler. The hostess was nice but not especially warm, and overall I found the setup uncomfortable and not very well thought out. We've stayed at several farms in the area, and this one was the most uncomfortable for us. Babies would be fine, and I think children over five would probably have a great time, but the ages in between didn't seem a good fit. Without small children, it is a nice place.
