Tasty, good-quality food and home-style cooking at fair prices. The beer garden is nice, though the nostalgic interior and furnishings are showing their age. Service was friendly, if a little gruff.

The food quality doesn’t justify the high prices. The waiters don’t change the ashtray, and worst of all, there are so many flies while you’re eating that it’s unbearable.

Food is excellent, with local dishes like snails and venison, medium-sized portions and fair prices. You can walk, bike or go kayaking right from the doorstep. The hotel and restaurant are very rustic, family-run, and have a friendly atmosphere. Staff are competent, and the standard rooms are clean and airy. The main road runs beside the building, but the back and terrace are quiet, and there’s a beer garden with some trees. At busy times you’ll need patience, as food takes quite a while to arrive. Groups of more than six don’t often get their courses served together.

I had a clean, spacious room in the guest house with a choice of seating and a balcony. At dawn I watched a Roe Deer from there. Good food and service, and a lovely countryside view.
