Hotel Schloonsee Garni

We booked directly with the Kaatz family by email for eight days at Hotel Schloonsee in June 2025, rather than using a booking portal or website. Just two inquiries and the holiday was arranged in January. We appreciated Mr. Kaatz carrying one of our suitcases up to the room after we checked in. With 48 steps and our age, that was a real help. Room 25 was bright and spacious. We worried about the south-east facing window and heat, but it was fine: with the blinds down while we were out, the room wasn't too warm in the evening even when it was 28 degrees Celsius outside. Breakfast was just as varied as other reviews described. We didn't miss having a buffet, which was only used for juice and fruit. The hostess was very friendly and brought breakfast to our table every morning. We also liked the blue water jugs, which we exchanged daily after breakfast. The self-service wine bar drinks were as good as the coffee from the machine at reception, which guests could use themselves. The note asking people not to take coffee or cappuccino to their rooms was amusing, though perhaps there'd been bad experiences. We had a kettle in our room, so only used the machine twice. Some guests had complained about limited public broadcasting channels, but there were nearly all the regional ARD channels, plus arte, One, and several others. Even people who want television on holiday had plenty of choices. The location was a highlight for us. The beach promenade is about 200 meters away, and the town center is easy to reach on foot. The spa bus stops across from the hotel and goes to almost every corner of the three seaside resorts. It's free with the visitor's card. Just know that a round trip takes over two hours because the bus stops "at every trash can." That's especially useful for people with limited mobility or difficulty walking. All three train stations and many shops are reachable by bus. We left the car parked all week. Despite what some reviews said, we didn't need the cramped garage and got one of the hotel's few spaces for €7 per day. The spaces vary a lot in quality, so a discount for the worst one would've been appreciated. Thanks to the friendly staff and the accommodation, our holiday in Bansin will stay a fond memory.

The location was ideal, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I slept really well in this beautiful house, and breakfast was delicious. I was very happy with my stay and would gladly return.

The spa area, with its Hundertwasser style, was a real treat. We also loved the breakfast, served at the table in the traditional way, with lovely presentation and plenty of variety. Our room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully furnished, with a small refrigerator. The hosts were keen to meet every wish, and the family-run hotel had a warm, welcoming feel. We can wholeheartedly recommend this little hotel.
