SEETELHOTEL Kaiserstrand Beachhotel

The beach has plenty of room to spread out, and there are lots of those big basket seats to rent, though I don’t really get the appeal. I stayed in room 2112 from Monday to Saturday in Sommer 2024. The hotel was clean and right on the beach. From the small balcony, you could see the Baltic to the left. Probably still can 😎 I brought a bike, and there’s a secure corral for it, though it took me a minute to find it the first time. The hotel steakhouse was good, but I’ll review that separately. Breakfast felt unlimited. The restaurant and attached bar look pretty sterile, though the food at the hotel restaurants was generally good. Wine options seemed almost all German; for a red, try the Meilenstein. Dry, strong, very good in my opinion. Nearby places are more homey and rustic for a meal. There weren’t any beach blankets or towels available, even though they’d happily sell you something from the gift shop. That seems like something they should change. It was pretty cool being right on the border with Poland. One day the room hadn’t been cleaned, and someone else was right behind me with the same complaint. The front desk apologized and offered towels straight away. It was all fine the next day, so no major problem. Watch out for the beach tax: they asked me for €16.50 for the stay, then charged me for it after the stay. Go figure. The authorities never asked to see proof, but like riding the S or U-Bahn without a ticket, it’s always a risk. So that’s that. Nice, convenient, maybe a little too magical, if you know what I mean.
