The kitchen was shut all week, so dinner at the hotel wasn't an option, and the breakfast buffet was dull and limited. Our first room had no basics like a kettle or tea, which was frustrating after a long trip when the restaurant was closed. A walk-in refrigerator somewhere outside the property made enough noise to keep us from falling asleep. The other room was quieter, but not very clean. We also couldn't use the jacuzzi.

We've had lunch at Gasthaus Mayerhofer several times and have been very pleased each time. The food is always delicious, and the service is great. They also deal with special requests quickly and without fuss. Today we decided on breakfast on the spur of the moment, and that was absolutely worth recommending too. We haven't seen the rooms, so can't say anything about those yet 😉. We'll be back for sure ❤️😋.

The place felt completely neglected. The pool was empty and run-down, and our balcony was off-limits because of the falling risk. The view from the room was a junkyard. Inside, there was dirt everywhere, along with spiders and other insects. The cobwebs in the shower and around the room made it seem like nobody had cleaned or stayed there for at least six months. I've never seen a room that disgusting. We couldn't just leave because we were there on a winter bus tour. The room was freezing, the heating didn't work, and the shower water never got warm. Charging people for a dump like that is disgraceful. The food and general atmosphere were mediocre at best. Service and the butcher shop were reasonably okay. Never again.

We were in Hinterschmiding on holiday in July and ate at the Mayerhofer restaurant, and every time left delighted. The staff were really friendly, and the owner was always around to answer questions in person. We felt the same way about the butcher shop. The food was delicious and nicely presented too, as they say, you eat with your eyes.
