Michel Hotel Hodenhagen

I expected better service and more order. There was noise all night, then the cleaning staff were loud in the nearby rooms in the morning, and the hallway outside our room was dirty. The reception staff’s English was poor, though luckily someone in the kitchen spoke English and could help us. When I asked reception for a kettle, the staff member seemed confused, as if he were new and didn’t know the procedure. I’d booked the room just to spend the night, so the noise was especially disappointing.

The location worked really well for us, close to the A7 Autobahn, Serengeti safari, Bremen and Hannover. There’s a river nearby and a nice area for walks, and parking is free. We stayed three nights and would definitely come again. The hotel is great for the price and family friendly, with its own indoor play area for children. The pool being closed was a small disappointment. Breakfast was really good, and big thanks to the lovely lady working on Easter morning in 2024.

The food was the best part, both the breakfast and dinner buffets were really good. Our room was standard, clean and comfortable. The hotel is child-friendly, but the kids’ corner in the main dining area makes a quiet meal hard to enjoy. Children were also cannonballing into the pool until late in the evening, so the wellness area didn’t feel relaxing either. Good food, but I’d say it’s suitable mainly for a children’s holiday.

The room was fresh, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was good. A very friendly receptionist welcomed us, but the restaurant staff badly need a charm course, which was the main reason for my low rating. The whole place felt more like a settlement than a hotel, and certainly not the four-star hotel advertised.
