We came for dinner because good friends recommended the place, and the meal was delicious. The portions were generous, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If I lived here, I’d eat here regularly!

The morning breakfast was incredibly delicious, with fresh cheese, fruit, yogurt, meats, and eggs made to your liking. The staff were personable and very friendly, and August the cat is very cute! The rooms are beautiful and well furnished, with lovely views and windows that open all the way for fresh air. I’d absolutely stay again.

I head to Idstein-Oberauroff on the A3 Motorway whenever I’m in the mood for good German food. This restaurant is part of a small family-run hotel and a real gem if you’re staying in Rhine-Main. The food is outstanding, from traditional German everyday cooking (Hausmannskost) to more elaborate dishes (gutbürgerliche Küche). There’s homemade Bratwurst, more sophisticated fish dishes, and a heavenly crème brûlée. They also have a menu du jour alongside the regular one. In summer, the Münchner Schnitzel, filled with radish and sweet mustard, is highly recommended. The place has been family-run for over 130 years, and the service is super friendly, efficient, and welcoming. Inside, the rustic German furniture makes it snug. Outside, there’s a cozy courtyard at an old farmhouse, decorated with flowers and a small burbling fountain, a real Wohlfühloase (oasis for wellbeing).

I was tired, hungry, and getting late, so I searched Google for somewhere to stay. Seeing Kern for the first time confirmed I’d struck gold in this charming, attractive village. The room was spacious, well furnished, and immaculate, with sumptuous bed pillows that guaranteed an unbroken night’s sleep. It’s family run, and they’re proud of it. There’s excellent dining from a wide menu, a very good breakfast table, and charming, helpful staff. A delightful experience. I often make 2,500 Km journeys past them, but in future I’ll DEFINITELY make them my first choice for an overnight stop.
