NH Ingolstadt

Breakfast was really, really good, with both English and European options. The hotel itself was comfortable and nice, and the rooms, though a bit old, were spacious and cozy. It's not very close to downtown, though Ingolstadt is a small town.

We stopped here on the way to our ski holiday in Austria, and it worked out perfectly. The staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English, and helped us find a nice nearby restaurant. They also managed to fit all three of us into one comfortable room.

The front desk was quick and helpful, and breakfast was the usual good standard for a German hotel. Those were the bright spots. The bar was poorly staffed: one bartender also seemed to handle janitorial work and room service, and during a conference the bar sat unattended for stretches of over 20 minutes at happy hour. I won't return to NH Ingolstadt. The hotel is run down, just off the Ingolstadt Nord exit, with little in the way of amenities inside or nearby. The neighborhood is mostly lower income apartments, with the noise and disorder that go along with that. To the north, the park is bordered by auto body shops and light industry. The autobahn is one block east and clearly audible all night. There’s no air conditioning, so on warm days it comes down to choosing between a quiet room and a comfortable temperature. There’s no fitness center, which is a real drawback on a business trip, and not much nearby to make up for it. The Danube is six blocks south and has a running path, probably the best option if you need exercise. The room and bathroom were otherwise fine, but the paint over the bed was worn and peeling, and the pillows were old and lumpy.

Breakfast was impeccable, the rooms were nice, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
