Gasthof zur Post

At €105 a night, with breakfast charged on top, this place just wasn’t worth the price. The sticky restaurant smelled worse to me than a bakery, so I’d have skipped breakfast and gone to a bakery instead. The room felt more like a hostel, which doesn’t justify such a high price, and I won’t return. I stayed for one night and was very disappointed. The room quality didn’t match the cost. It faced a very busy, noisy road, and I had to close the outside shutters to keep the street lights from disturbing my sleep. The bathroom fixtures were really awkward.

The XXL schnitzel is enormous, and the food in general is very good and plentiful. Handy stop, with a large parking area behind the building.

Really great restaurant.

The generous portions were a big plus, and everything I tried had a real sense of quality. I especially enjoyed the Hungarian and Bavarian dishes, from paprika goulash and roast pork with crispy crackling to the homemade dumplings and coleslaw. A freshly tapped beer or Hungarian wine rounds it out nicely, and the prices feel very fair for the amount and quality you get. What makes Gasthof Zur Post feel special is how welcoming everyone is. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Inside, it’s rustic and cozy, with a strong sense of tradition. It’s a lovely place for dinner with friends, a family celebration, or just a good meal. I’d happily recommend it, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
