Dorint Hotel Esplanade Jena

The breakfast was excellent, with a broad range of fresh choices, and the staff were both friendly and professional. The hotel is modern and well placed in central Jena. My room was clean and comfortable, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. It's a very good business hotel with the reliable Dorint quality.

A large handprint was on the room cabinet during my stay. I asked for it to be cleaned, they promised, but nothing was done. The service was poor in another way too: I gave the clerk an important letter and he said he'd take care of it personally, but it never reached its destination. When I followed up a week later, they didn't act on it or call back as promised. The hotel's hygiene and service standards seem to be different from what I'd expect.

My first stay at a Dorint was a lovely experience, and I'd highly recommend it. The room was very comfortable, on the top floor, with a single bed at the standard rate. They also provided a bowl and treats for my small dog. Staff were friendly, despite my being a foreigner in Eastern Germany. The location is central, and there's underground parking. Check-in came with complimentary sparkling wine.

I slept better here than at almost any hotel I've stayed in, and I travel a lot. The location in downtown Jena is great, and breakfast was awesome and very well priced. I was pleasantly surprised by the three kinds of gluten-free bread, something I'd never found anywhere before. The hotel also has a decent restaurant for dinner, with steaks grilled to perfection and among the best I've had. I hate those two nights in a row. It's one of the finest hotels I've stayed at in Germany.
