Hotel Hasselberg

There was no service to speak of. I arrived at 8:30 pm and there was no reception, and breakfast wasn’t available after 8:00. The room was clean, but had synthetic bed covers and not even a glass or mug. Sorry, I’d choose another hotel.

We were warmly welcomed by the owners, Marianne Thines-Blatt and Karl Heinz Blatt, and their friendly staff, who speak German and English. My husband Mike and I spent four lovely days and nights here last month. It’s a quaint, privately owned German hotel, with large, clean, spacious rooms and the same beautiful view of Kaiserslautern from the rooms as from the outdoor patio. You can have the delicious home-cooked buffet breakfast, included in the price, outside or in the dining room. The beds were so comfortable that my husband called the stay “a little bit of heaven.” Parking is free, and the bus to Kaiserslautern stops across the street, which was very convenient for getting around. We hope you get to enjoy a restful stay here too.

The location is nice and the food is excellent, though the hotel’s utilities could use an update. That doesn’t put me off recommending it. I’d stay here again.

It’s an older hotel, but it’s okay and not dirty. The food was fine. Kaiserslautern felt a little too far away for me, though there’s a bus stop and a bank close by.
