Wunderland Kalkar

With five kids, we had a great time at Kernie's last week. It was a holiday and busy, but never felt too crowded, and we barely had to queue. Drinks, fries and soft serve are included, too. Adults paid just under 30 euros and children 25, so for just under 100 € it was a really good family day out.

Our kids had a lovely day on several rides, and they enjoyed the circus show. Just be aware that the show includes camels, dogs and horses if you prefer circuses without animal acts. Fries, drinks and ice cream are included. The park itself is small, basic and dated, probably best for families with younger kids. The playground in the nuclear power plant was shockingly dirty: old, uncleared water, floating rubbish, trash in the sand where children play, and very dusty climbing equipment. It’s hard to believe management lets that area stay like this. We won’t be back, and I can’t recommend the park.

The musical events were a real highlight, with people relaxing, chatting and dancing. There’s loads for the whole family, friends or colleagues to do, and the breakfast is generous while dinner is really tasty. Beds are comfortable and the staff are professional and well trained. A great place to stay for a while, especially with kids. Recommended!

We came from Eindhoven today for our first visit with kids aged 10 and 13. Two hours was enough for us, so I wouldn’t travel that far for it again. Wunderlight feels very artificial, with simple, old attractions that seem suited to children up to about 10 at most. The ice rink was so crowded there was room for only 3-5 skaters.
